Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics

Graduate of the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics bachelor’s degree program, in accordance with the European trend of treating dietetics as a medical profession, will receive preparation in medical and health sciences, taking into account those aspects of knowledge that are necessary in diagnosing the nutritional state and mode of nutrition and planning nutritional management. As part of the obligatory part of the training program, we include theoretical and practical training in the diagnosis of the mode of nutrition and nutritional status, which allows you to gain the competence to correctly assess the initial state of nutritional intervention.

More about Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics

The foundation of first-cycle education in health and medical sciences and food and nutrition sciences is common to all students and is the starting point for continuing education in, chosen by students, one of two specializations: Clinical Dietetics or Nutrition in Sports and Fitness. By offering a choice of specializations, we are responding to the educational needs of those adepts of the dietetics profession who do not feel predisposed to work with patients in a medical context, but wish to deal with dietary counseling addressed to healthy people with special nutritional needs related to their lifestyles.

We distinguish two educational paths in our first-cycle programme: Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition in Sports and Fitness, which offer the development and detailing of practical skills and knowledge in dietotherapy, clinical dietetics and clinical nutrition, respectively, as well as the theoretical foundations of sports and fitness, sports and health training and nutrition in specific sports and fitness disciplines.

In our educational concept, medical-clinical knowledge and competencies will be complemented by knowledge and competencies in food science and nutrition, including food technology, food chemistry and biochemistry, food microbiology, as well as the fundamentals of human nutrition in health at different stages of the life cycle.

Modules overview

The idea of education in the field of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics first-cycle studies is based on the assumption that a dietitian is a health care professional with knowledge of the nutritional determinants of human health and diseases. The proposed educational program includes learning outcomes that are necessary to prepare the graduate for a professional career in the student’s chosen stream of professional activity: working with patients as part of a medical therapeutic team, or with a client/healthy person with special nutritional needs due to undertaking sports/fitness training or needing rational nutrition as part of a health-promoting lifestyle.

According to the knowledge and skills acquired during the study, graduates will be prepared to work in, among others:

  • public and non-public medical entities in open and closed treatment
  • private and public dietetic clinics
  • institutions of collective nutrition of the closed type, including, among others, educational institutions, social welfare homes, sanatoriums, spa hospitals
  • catering companies
  • consumer organizations
  • sports and recreation facilities, fitness clubs, sports clubs
  • Internet portals that promote the principles of rational nutrition
  • in the press, radio and television in the preparation of professional educational materials on human nutrition and dietetics

General entry requirements:

 

International students applying to our University have to submit documents confirming their graduation from a secondary school or a university. Certificates and diplomas issued abroad must be officially legalized and recognized in Poland.

 

Language requirements:

 

International students must submit a document confirming their knowledge of English, or are required to a attend an English language course. This requirement does not apply to students for whom English is a native language or was a language of instruction at school.

International students should demonstrate that they meet one of the following minimum language requirements:
