The Library of the Vincent Pol University in Lublin was established in 2000 and until recently was located in the main building of the university. At the end of October 2023, the University opened a modern Center for Medical Sciences, which houses the new library and reading room.
Students and faculty from all disciplines will find essential books and exercises in the library, both related to their specialization and from other fields of interest. The reading room features computer stations providing constant access to the Internet. Some of these stations are adapted for visually impaired individuals, equipped with magnifying devices and special BigKeys and ZoomText large-print keyboards. The reading space has been designed to support individual study.
“The new library has been created with the comfort and needs of all users in mind—both students and faculty. With modern computer stations and a wide selection of scientific literature, we provide an environment that fosters individual development and research work,” says Barbara Stanisławska, the head of the library at the Vincent Pol University.
The library’s collection currently consists of approximately 22,000 volumes and is regularly enriched and updated. It includes works in fields such as medical rehabilitation, nursing, midwifery, emergency medical services, economics, physiotherapy, cosmetology, tourism, recreation, management, dietetics, and physical education. The resources also include dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks, specialized journals, and multimedia materials. The library regularly acquires new scientific and industry journals.
Library management is supported by the advanced computer system MAK+, recommended by the National Library Council. This allows students to remotely browse the library catalog, check the availability of specific items, and manage their accounts and loans.
An additional convenience is the free access to numerous online scientific databases, such as IBUK Libra and the Virtual Science Library, as well as ClinicalKey, which offers full texts of specialized journals and books for students in medical fields.
The library is located on the first floor of the new University building and is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Its resources are available to students, postgraduate learners, and research staff.
