Przemysław Terejko, PhD, professor at VPU, spoke about managing a multilingual academic community at the ‘Polyglot Gathering’ conference in Prague.
The ‘Polyglot Gathering’ conference took place from 15-19 May in Prague, Czech Republic. It is the world’s largest international event for polyglots and language enthusiasts held annually at the end of May. It is an opportunity to attend lectures about different countries and languages, listen to speeches by guests from all over the world, and learn about a wide range of cultural and integration activities.
Vincent Pol University was represented by the Head of the Department of English Philology, Przemysław Terejko, PhD, professor at VPU, Agata Łukasiewicz, PhD, lecturer in the Department of English Philology, Iwona Pietrzak from the Dean’s Office of English Studies and Zuzanna Yevtushyk of the VPU Centre for Foreign Languages and Certification.
Professor Terejko’s presentation was a characterisation of the multicultural and multilingual academic community of Vincent Pol University, which is the leading university in Poland in terms of the number of foreign students. An outline of the history of the university, the benefits and challenges that arise from such a university, and the steps that have been taken to meet the needs of a multicultural and multilingual academic community were all presented at the conference in Prague.
“We also had a stand where we presented our University’s offer and answered questions about the university and its multicultural community. There was a lot of interest, and the whole conference was very developing,” concluded prof. Przemysław Terejko.
