The scientific and didactic conference “The Renaissance of Wrestling” at Vincent Pol University

As part of the ‘Renaissance of Wrestling’ initiative and the activities of the Training Centre for Coaches and Referees in Wrestling in Lublin, a scientific and didactic conference was held on Thursday within the walls of our University.

The event was organised by Vincent Pol University in cooperation with the Polish Wrestling Federation. The conference was very popular, attracting sports specialists, coaches, competitors and wrestling enthusiasts from all over Poland.

The conference was solemnly opened by:

President and Founder: doc. Henryk Stefanek, M.A., Rector of VPU, prof. Mariusz Korczyński, Ph.D. and Andrzej Supron, President of the Polish Wrestling Federation.

Their speeches emphasised the importance of education and training in the context of sport development, as well as promoting a healthy and ethical approach to competition.

For us, this conference is a celebration of science, an exchange of experience and knowledge from scientific and practical work in our field,” said, Rector of VPU, prof. Mariusz Korczyński, Ph.D. in welcoming the guests. – This event is very much a part of the Lublin sports community and our Academy, as we are a university open to athletes – he added.

The ‘Renaissance of Wrestling’ conference was an important event promoting the development of wrestling and raising the standards of training and education in the field. The organisers expressed the hope that such initiatives will contribute to the further development of combat sports in Poland and raise awareness of important issues related to safety and sports ethics

It was with great pleasure that I welcomed the participants to the conference in Lublin. Our aim is to provide knowledge to the widest possible group of people connected with sport,” said Grzegorz Borkowski, head of the Polish Anti-Doping Bureau. – ‘Thanks to the invitation to the conference, I had the opportunity to discuss a number of issues related to possible anti-doping rule violations, which are consequently associated with very severe sanctions for athletes and those around them,’ he added.

We would like to thank all participants and speakers for their participation and valuable comments. We hope that the experience gained from the conference will contribute to the further development of Polish wrestling and the sport in general.
