“Languages and Cultures of VPU” – was the title of a conference held on Wednesday at Vincent Pol University. It was an opportunity to learn about the cultures and traditions of the various countries from which students at our university come.
The event was organised by representatives of the Student Government of English-speaking students at VPU. The main objective of the conference was to present and learn about the cultural and linguistic richness of the countries from which the students of our University come. Representatives from eight different countries of the world – Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ukraine, Egypt, Tunisia, Nigeria, Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates – shared information about the culture, customs and traditions of their homelands. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about tourist trivia from various corners of the globe.
– I think it is important for people to have the opportunity to present their cultures and countries at our Academy. It gives a chance to open up to the world and understand each other better. It’s also extremely interesting – who wouldn’t want to learn about the world? – says Kath Horidi, an English-speaking Physiotherapy student at VPU.
Such meetings are extremely important because they help to build intercultural bridges and promote understanding and tolerance. By organising such events, Vincent Pol University demonstrates its commitment to shaping an open and diverse academic community where every student, regardless of background, can feel valued and understood.
– We were very warmly welcomed by the audience – comments Edna Carere, a Nursing student at VPU and President of the Student Government of English-speaking students, on the conference. – I would like to encourage everyone to join the international student government. We talk about our cultures and traditions, we organise many workshops, there is a lot of laughter and fun. We would be very pleased to welcome new members – she encourages.
The Languages and Cultures of VPU conference was not only an educational but also an inspiring experience for all participants.
