The Power of Diversity: A Multicultural Meeting at Vicent Pol University

Yesterday, the second edition of the “Languages and Cultures of VPU” conference took place at Vicent Pol University, focusing on music and literature. The event gathered representatives of various nationalities living in our city. It was held under the honorary patronage of President of Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk, as well as the patronage of the Study in Lublin program and the AbrahamD Ministry Foundation.

Among the participants were students from the IX High School in Lublin, the XXX High School in Lublin, and  High School in Biłgoraj. The conference was officially opened by the Rector of Vicent Pol University prof. Mariusz Korczyński, Ph.D. and Wiktoria Herun, the coordinator of the Study in Lublin program. The event was kicked off by Abraham Diomande, who gave a moving musical performance.

Participants had a unique opportunity to explore the richness of music and literature from different parts of the world, including Africa, Ukraine, and India. The meeting fostered a deeper understanding of diverse cultures, the exchange of experiences, and the building of dialogue between the residents of the Lublin region and people from other countries.

The English Department Scientific Club at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University prepared a performance titled “The Fiendish Court – A Recollection,” which captivated the audience with its originality and engaging execution.

I really enjoyed it, and the diversity of perspectives on topics such as music and dance was incredibly inspiring. Honestly, I had no idea about 80% of what was discussed during the event, says Julia from the English Department at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. It was a great opportunity to learn something new and connect with other cultures,” she adds.

The conference clearly demonstrated how multiculturalism enriches the local community, promoting openness, understanding, and cooperation. It was an inspiring event that proved diversity can be a source of strength and integration in society.
