A canoe trip, a bicycle excursion and a visit to the “Czartowe Pole” Nature Reserve – are just some of the tourist attractions in Roztocze explored by master degree International Tourism students at Vincent Pol University. All in order to best prepare themselves for the guiding profession.
The field exercise took place on 17 and 18 June in Central Roztocze. The group was supervised by Head of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management – Sławomir Kula, Ph.D., prof. at VPU and two lecturers from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management and International Tourism Andrzej Pawłowski, Ph.D., prof. at VPU, and Denys Miroshnikov.
On the first day, the students cycled 40 kilometers exploring the picturesque corners of Roztocze. The cycling route led through charming villages, forests and fields, giving participants the opportunity to experience the diversity of the region’s landscape. It was also an opportunity to gain practical experience in planning tourist routes, managing a group and dealing with the various situations that can arise during a cycle tour.
On the second day, the students took part in a canoeing trip from Obrocza to the Rudka Lagoon. The canoeing trip not only provided them with a lot of fun, but also allowed them to learn canoeing techniques, assess the difficulty of the route and ensure the safety of the participants. During the canoeing trip, the students had the opportunity to admire nature from the perspective of the river, which is one of the most attractive ways of getting to know the natural assets of Roztocze.
– There was a lot of fun and joy, and fortunately not many capsizes, both on the bikes and in the kayaks. I think everyone had a great time – enthuses Zuzanna Bielecka, a student of International Tourism and head of the group.
Such trips are extremely important for students as they allow them to gain valuable practical experience, which is an indispensable part of their studies. Field exercises are crucial for their future career – they allow them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life conditions. They enable students to gain a better understanding of the specifics of a guide’s work, learn how to react to unforeseen situations and improve their interpersonal and organizational skills.
– I liked everything – the tasty food, the interesting location, the super tutors. It’s just a pity that this is the last such trip, because we are already finishing our studies – says Jarosław Zawada, student of International Tourism at Vincent Pol University.
Roztocze, with its rich natural beauty and numerous tourist attractions, is the perfect place for this type of exercise. Here, students can not only learn the profession, but also enjoy the beauty of nature and actively spend time outdoors.
